If your Swordfish extension isn’t working quite right, don’t worry—most issues can be fixed in just a few steps. Here's a quick guide to help you troubleshoot the most common problems.
1. Make Sure the Extension is Installed and Pinned
First, check that the Swordfish Chrome Extension is installed:
Open your Chrome browser.
Click the puzzle piece icon (? Extensions) at the top right.
If you see Swordfish listed, click the pin icon so it stays visible on your toolbar.
If it’s not installed, you can add it from the Chrome Web Store.
2. Check Your Permissions
Swordfish needs permission to read the pages you’re visiting so it can detect profiles and display data.
Here’s how to update your settings:
Right-click on the Swordfish extension icon.
Click Manage Extension.
Scroll to Site Access and make sure it's set to “On all sites” or at least includes the social platforms you use (e.g. LinkedIn, Google, Twitter).
3. Refresh the Page
Sometimes, a quick refresh is all it takes. If the extension isn’t loading on a page where it usually does, try reloading the page or navigating to a different profile to see if it triggers the extension.
4. Log into Your Swordfish Account
If you're not logged in, the extension won’t work properly.
To check:
Click the extension icon.
If prompted, log in using the email address associated with your account.
5. Check for Profile URL Format
Make sure the page you’re visiting is a valid public profile or search result.
The extension works best on:
LinkedIn public profiles
LinkedIn search result pages
Google/Bing search result pages with LinkedIn or Twitter URLs
Twitter public profiles
If the extension doesn't detect a valid profile, it won’t show contact data.
6. Update or Reinstall the Extension
Still stuck? Try removing and reinstalling the extension.
Go to chrome://extensions/
Find Swordfish and click Remove
Reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store
